TAG Institute collaborates with Redbull India on 'Redbull Spotlight Season 1'

June 5, 2021

Tag Institute host’s the new show on MX player Redbull Spotlight. And boy what an eventful day we had shooting it. Redbull Spotlight is a nation-wide hunt to discover and support India’s best emerging rappers. Rapping is a music style in which rhythmic and/or rhyming speech is chanted do musical accompaniment.

Eight rappers were chosen from across the country to compete head-to-head in this six- part series. Episode 3 of Season 1, was a session where the chosen rappers had to do live recording at the studio. This session was supervised and judged by the legendary producer of Indian hip-hop and one of their mentors Sajeel Kapoor, well known by his stage name SEZ on the Beat, along with New Delhi rappers Abhijay Negi (stage name Encore ABJ) and Siddhant Sharma (stage name Calm), together called Seedhe Maut, well known for their song “101’’

It was a daunting task to have a live shoot of musical show. With the so many lights, fixtures, cameras and their operators it wasn’t as easy as it sounds. There was hardly any vacant floor space, to be honest. With good micro management of the TAG team the day went as planned. In fact the day turned into night and we all did the best to provide the best service and infrastructure for such events.

Both our studios A & C are equipped with the choicest microphones and assortment of outboard gears from Manley, API, SPL, Antelope Audio, Focusrite, Earthworks, Genelec and others. We are also proud owners and the first to have the new SSL origin console in India in our Studio C.

The contestants were overwhelmed but really happy to get an opportunity to record at such a high-end studio. They had to prepare and record their version of the composition Kahaani 2020. They were divided in 2 teams. Day end it was decision time. Team B was the winner and Rhyming Man was appreciated for his enunciation, delivery and content.

All in all it was a great day to be a part of this show with Redbull. Looking forward to many more.
