“Dolby” is arguably the biggest name in the audio world today. Just a few months into the release of Spatial Audio or Dolby Atmos Music on Apple Music, our very own director/faculty Omkar Tamhan was awarded the prestigious certificate for the very elite Dolby Atmos Music Mix Engineers Honours Club.
Omkar had been a mastering consultant since 2017 till he started ‘The Audio Guys’ with his partners in 2019. TAG knew from the start that Dolby Atmos is a future-ready technology and they integrated that as an integral part of their course which also led TAG to become a core powerhouse for helping Apple and Dolby figure out the Spatial Audio Music launch. TAG started becoming the preferred studio for a bunch of artists who launched Atmos music in India… and the rest, as they say, is history. Before anyone even realised, they had almost 50 tracks done in Spatial sound in just 2 months!!
Around the same time, Dolby had released a program called the Music Mix Engineer's program. TAG decided to enrol and was able to provide Dolby with all the required documentation and information to be eligible for, and receive the award. During this tenure, TAG worked on the entire album soundtrack of “Kota Factory season 2” , a few songs from Divine's album “Kohinoor” and “Gunehgaar”, Meghdeep Boses's “Boonda Baandi” and a few more tracks. Other than that they have worked on soundtracks from films like “Runway 34”,
“Big Bull”, and many more soundtracks that needed an Atmos version, to be released on Apple Music. Through their journey, Omkar and his team have had the pleasure of working with some stellar stereo engineers like Hanish Taneja, Abhishek Ghatak and many more.
While TAG’s overall idea is to educate the next generation of audio engineers about Dolby Atmos Music, the studio, in the process, has ended up building a large bank of tracks with cutting edge technology of the unmatchable Dolby Atmos sound.
