Purbayan Chatterjee, or Purbayan da, as we know him, is a Sitar maestro and a holder of the President’s Award for Best Instrumentalist in the country and is a respected musician in the scene. He has made several trips to the TAG studio in the past to record stuff and recently dropped in again to record some Sitar and Tabla. This session was recorded in studio A which is a Midas M32 room with Neumann monitoring. The room proved to be a great choice for Purbayan da’s song because of its tightly set up acoustics which allowed the tabla to cut through and shine while also making the Sitar sound crisp.
The session was done under the due diligence of the fellow director and partner at TAG- Mr. Jayakrishnan who has been involved in Purbayan da’s projects for over a decade and has taken care of all his audio requirements throughout his career and works. Having Purbayan da at TAG was refreshing like a breath of fresh air and we look forward to hosting him many more times in the future.
