One of the major goals that TAG set out with was to bridge the gap between professional and student experiences in the music and sound industry. We wanted to enable the next generation with professional guidance which would help shape their careers, making them more efficient, hard working and dedicated towards the industry, which would in turn uplift the overall quality of content for the audiences.

In our effort to do so, we realized that it is paramount for our music production diploma students to learn the basics of orchestration, basics of Indian rhythms, ensemble rhythms, score ensemble rhythms specifically because the intricacies of Indian background music which involves a lot of creative drumming and percussion.

Therefore, we decided to integrate a mock-up session, specially for the students of TAG, along with industry expert Dipesh Varma who would share some of his vast knowledge with the students. Dipesh is one of the best arrangers and musicians in the industry, who has arranged the rhythm section for a lot of major Bollywood scores and web series. He has also been a long time friend and supporter of TAG. Some of Dipesh's works are from major movie labels like Yash raj films, Dharma Pictures and more.

This experiment was the first of its kind at TAG and we were thrilled to see the response, which then led us to make them a regular part of the curriculum. These photos depict the moments where the students were micing the session themselves, planning it, understanding the dynamics of the instrument and the musician and understanding how they can capture the sound effectively, etc. A truly enriching experience and session, this is how we make learning fun at TAG!
