Minnal Murali was a Malyalam niche indie film, released in the year 2021. We had the opportunity to do the sound post production for this film at TAG. Some people from the Kerala industry had come to meet faculty and WPL at TAG, Justin Jose. They had this superhero movie concept that a few indie filmmakers were trying to make. TAG was just operating as a commercial studio at that time and understood the scope of work for the film and agreed to take the project up. Once we had seen the visuals of the movie, we knew that this had immense potential.
We figured out ways to fully support Justin with his sound mixing, lending him all the technical support he needed. Keeping our goal in mind, we wanted to make sure that we involved the students in the mixing process, so that they get that cutting edge, professional experience. To our delight, the students flourished on this project, which led to us winning The Kerala State Award in the "Best Sound" category, for that year. The students were overwhelmed and overall, this proved to be a highly positive and motivating experience. As for us, we just basked in the glory of all the joy written on our students' faces.
TAG had done it again - beautifully merged profession and education and created something beautiful of it.
