Exploring the Expressive E Osmose Keyboard with Suraj Sabu

April 5, 2026

Innovative approaches in music technology have reshaped the way artists and musicians create and experience sound. Recently, Suraj Sabu from DMP Batch 22 at The Audio Guys Institute introduced students to an exciting innovative instrument – The Expressive E Osmose Keyboard, a powerful Polyphonic aftertouch and MPE designed to transform the musical space.

A Gist on the Osmose Keyboard:

During the session Suraj Sabu demonstrated how the Expressive E Osmose Keyboard has exceptional capabilities and features. The Expressive E’s Augmented Keyboard Action aka 49 keys with 3-dimensional key control, allowing artists and musicians to control pressure, pitch and movement directly through each key, making each note sound melodious and beautiful.

Benefits of Expressive E Osmose Keyboard:

The Expressive E Osmose is a blend of traditional keyboard layout and advanced MPE (MIDI Polyphonic expression) technology which allows users to control each note. Regular keyboards apply pitch bend, vibrato or tonal change to the whole chord instead of individual notes. Further, Suraj explained that this keyboard is helpful for Film Composers, Synth Players and Sound Engineers. The Osmose keyboard enables artists to create different variations such as cinematic soundscapes, ambient textures and experimental sounds that might be difficult to achieve with a traditional keyboard.

Built-in Software – Eagan Matrix:

Moreover, this session also highlights that Osmose keyboard brings a lot of creative opportunities for producers and musicians which eliminates the need to rely on a expensive software as there’s a built in Eagan Matrix sound engine and 500+ presets, a creation of Haken Audio. It has pre-loaded presets which makes it easier for artists to explore sounds.

The Eagan Matrix sound engine generates all the sounds that you hear from the osmose keyboard such as Physical Modelling, Virtual Analog synthesis, FM Synthesis and Additive Synthesis. The osmose keyboard can sense pressure, key gestures and pitch movement and the Eagan matrix processes this information into vibrato, pitch bends, changes in tone or timbre and dynamic volume changes.

Versatility:

Another biggest advantage of the osmose keyboard is it’s versatility, it acts as MPE MIDI Controller, to simplify it can control other hardware synthesizers, plug-ins and DAWs. This feature makes the osmose keyboard highly versatile and flexible for studio production.

Learning Experience For Students:

When students interact with such instruments, they’re able to experience a more expressive sound production. Demonstrations like this by professionals such as Suraj Sabu helps to connect theory and real-world applications. Moreover, it encourages artists and musicians to experiment with new techniques and helps them to navigate through the journey.

Overall, the session offered a glimpse into the future of digital instruments. It provided valuable insights into how technology is the shaping the way music is created. To learn more about this innovative instrument and stay up-to-date with the tools in the industry, be sure to watch this reel.
