Digico Sessions with Reniel K Reji

September 14, 2026

An engaging session on Digico was held by Reniel K Reji at TAG. Through this practical session, students got to understand the technical side of live sound reinforcement. Instead of simply watching, Reniel K Reji showed a live demonstration of Digico, through this they got an understanding of what happens behind the scenes, which helped to bridge the learning gap.

Understanding DIGICO:

Digico is a professional equipment which is utilised by sound engineers for audio mixing during live music concerts and theatre production.

Practical Learning Experience:

Instead of teaching them through a presentation or theoretical concepts. Reniel K Reji took the students through the entire process, step by step explaining each and every detail. By this insightful session, students were exposed to different tools and techniques that are employed to operate the Digico console. He bridged concepts with real-world learning. This helps students to understand the concepts much better. He also demonstrated some features like creating macros for toggling sends on/off for desired auxiliary tracks. They were also exposed to the interface of the console.

For students who aspire to be live sound engineers, working with industry standard consoles prepares them for the real world. Technical knowledge and practical understanding is needed when you are operating a console. In live sound engineering, any mistake could ruin the entire thing. Hence, it's required that you are vigilant and understand the software well. It's important to know how to navigate through the software as in real world settings there is a lot of pressure, plus you need to be quick, you can quite easily get lost in menus.

Practice is quite important and understanding how the show files should be organised. Sometimes, there can be errors, you should be quick enough to troubleshoot. It's a skill you should master and always be calm under pressure. If your technical knowledge is strong, in case something goes wrong you know what you should do next from everything going hay-wired. It's important to build soft skills such as effective communication, strong problem solving skills and attention to detail as this helps you to smoothly manage live events. Moreover, it also requires you to collaborate with other teams, so having exceptional communication skills is a must.

The Digico Session with Reniel was an insightful and engaging session. Students got a deeper understanding of how the Digico system works. TAG continues to provide such opportunities for their students, giving them exposure and preparing them for the real world.
